Human Resources Manager
Reports to: Managing Partner and COO

Key Job Responsibilities:
Manages all Human Resources functions for the firm. This is a working Manager position in a busy 2-person HR Department in a growing firm. Must be hands-on and willing to work on all HR tasks and projects. 
  • Manage firm hiring including posting job positions, Linkedln searches, resume review, interviews, reference and background checks and facilitating the offer process and new hire onboarding.
  • Coordinate on-campus recruiting and outreach; coordinate agency recruiters.
  • Manage employee performance reviews and compensation reviews.
  • Conduct performance counseling, performance improvement plans and terminations.
  • Handle internal employee investigations in coordination with firm's Employment Counsel.
  • Provide guidance and support to partners and managers in coaching employees.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant local, state and federal laws; train and counsel employees regarding company policy and procedure.
  • Work closely with benefits brokers to lead employee benefits Open Enrollment process. Audit and approve employee benefits enrollment and benefit provider invoices.
  • Research/propose innovative ideas and solutions in HR areas but focused on: recruiting, performance management and compensation, retention, firm culture. Work to improve what already exists at Miller Kaplan and attract and retain the right people as the firm grows.
  • Develop and coordinate firm-wide programs and events including social events, benefits and wellness events, mentoring, employee training and education to foster an environment of employee engagement and development.
  • Create and distribute firm-wide employee communications to promote inclusion and collaboration in the firm.
  • Oversee the maintenance of employee personnel files and data including processing new hire and termination data in ADP Workforce Now and benefit portals, leave of absence, immigration paperwork for sponsored employees, CPA certification status, tracking CPE continuing education hours, etc.
 Skills & Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience at a senior level in Human Resources administration
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, PHR or SPHR certification a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and familiarity with ADP, Adobe Acrobat and HRIS systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Works well under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills
  • Kind and approachable
  • Strong team player, both as team lead and member of the admin. team
  • Occasional travel required to other firm offices and campus career fairs.
