Job Description:
Our client, a prominent labor organization (the “Union”), is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Controller.  The Controller will report to the top officer of the Union and will supervise and oversee all Union financial affairs and accounting-related activities.

  • In charge of all aspects of financial management disciplines, including accounting, payroll, financial and regulatory reporting, banking relations, investment management, insurance and financial systems.
  • Develop and implement strategic goals and objectives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Union officers and employees to identify their needs and provide business solutions.
  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, MBA and/or CPA desired.
  • Minimum of 10 years in a senior financial position preferably in a medium to large professional services environment.
  • Must have high level of written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage and communicate well at all levels of the Union and with staff at all locations.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
