Payroll Compliance Audit Supervisor

The Payroll Compliance Audit Supervisor coordinates employer audits to determine compliance with employee benefit contributions and standards in connection with financial audit reports. This Supervisor position requires previous payroll audit experience, emphasis on analytical, technical and research tasks
 
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the payroll compliance staff performing payroll audits of multi-employer benefit plans.
  • Conduct audits and supervise staff auditor’s time and schedule; review completed audits for initial draft presentation to the employer.
  • Ensure the audit process and procedures meet the guidelines as established by the Trust Fund Audit Program and Policy and ensures that the payroll audit addresses compliance with regulations and internal controls.
  • Work closely with the audit staff, employers, clients, managers and partners.
  • Schedule and support the compliance audit staff with procedures and direction, prioritizing and scheduling of backlog.
 
Qualifications, Skills, & Knowledge:
  • 5+ years bookkeeping or payroll tax experience and/or applicable work experience.
  • 1 – 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledgeable of payroll tax and payroll systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong quantitative and analytic skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to adapt and manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Some traveling required to client work sites within the greater Bay area.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar.
