Senior Staff Auditor – Labor Unions and Employee Benefit Plans
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Participates in audit planning and supervises a team up to two staff auditors
  • Examines and analyzes accounting records to determine financial status of establishment and prepares financial reports concerning operating procedures
  • Reviews data regarding material assets, net worth, liabilities, capital stock, surplus, income, and expenditures
  • Inspects notes receivable and payable, negotiable securities, and cancelled checks.
  • Verifies journal and ledger entries of cash and check payments, purchases, expenses, and trial balances by examining and authenticating inventory items.
  • Examines and analyzes accounting records to determine if acceptable accounting procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
Must be organized and have good work paper preparation skills and will be expected to participate in the planning and supervision of audits, communicate with clients and partners, and prepare financial statements.
Audit experience required.  
BA/BS degree required, major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Math, Business is preferred.
  • Plan and perform audits
  • 2 - 5 years of experience
  • Prepare financial statements and footnotes
  • Performs diversified accounting and auditing assignments under the direction of supervisor, manager or partner.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates ability to successfully communicate with people at all levels of the organization

  • Strong technical and organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) required; knowledge of  QuickBooks and other Accounting related programs is a plus

  • Obtain an understanding of the client’s business and industry as well as documenting accounting systems and internal controls.
  • Must possess strong analytical and prioritization skills
  • Manage multiple tasks
  • Stay current on the latest GAAP practices and knowledge of GAAP matters
